Werken bij de Leprastichting betekent werken aan een wereld zonder lepra. Een wereld waarin lepra niet langer voor slachtoffers zorgt met ernstige lichamelijke en psychische gevolgen. Want internationale leprabestrijding is effectief gebleken. Effectief door de succesvolle behandeling van leprapatiënten. Effectief door het preventief behandelen van naaste contacten zodat verdere besmetting wordt voorkomen. Effectief door voorlichting en training van gezondheidswerkers en (ex) leprapatiënten waardoor handicaps, discriminatie en uitsluiting niet langer nodig zijn.

Een wereld zonder lepra is hiermee een concreet en realistisch doel. In 2040 willen we dit bereikt hebben. Hiervoor zijn wel (financiële) middelen en bevlogen medewerkers nodig. De Leprastichting heeft kantoren in Mozambique, India, Indonesië, Nepal en Brazilië, maar is momenteel in een organisatietransitie naar een internationale alliantie van zelfstandige NGO’s: de NLR Alliantie. Op het kantoor in Amsterdam zijn dit jaar zijn de programma- en medisch technische afdelingen samengevoegd tot de afdeling Programma’s, Onderzoek & Partnerschappen. De samenvoeging reflecteert de intensieve samenwerking die al bestond en de veranderende rol van het Nederlandse kantoor binnen de NLR alliantie. Om leiding te geven aan deze nieuwe afdeling en deze verandering in goede banen te leiden zijn wij per direct op zoek naar een inspirerend, strategisch en resultaatgericht:

Hoofd Programma’s, Onderzoek & Partnerschappen

De afdeling Programma’s, Onderzoek & Partnerschappen bestaat uit 15 gedreven medewerkers. De afdeling is verdeeld over de volgende 3 clusters die elk worden aangestuurd door een coördinator:

  • Alliantie & Partnerschappen
  • Onderzoek en beleidsbeïnvloeding
  • Institutionele fondsenwerving & projectvoorstel ontwikkeling

Wat ga je doen als Hoofd afdeling Programma’s, Onderzoek & Partnerschappen

  • Je stuurt, coacht en motiveert de medewerkers; stelt heldere kaders op en maakt concrete resultaat-en kwaliteitsafspraken met teamleden; zorgt voor een heldere rol en taakverdeling binnen de afdeling en stimuleert de onderlinge samenwerking.
  • Je bent lid van het managementteam en gezamenlijk verantwoordelijk voor de organisatiebrede strategie, organisatieontwikkeling en cultuur. Daarnaast ben je sparringpartner voor de directeur-bestuurder.
  • Je ontwikkelt in samenwerking met de afdeling het afdelingsbeleid ten aanzien van programma’s, onderzoek, innovatie, kennisontwikkeling, alliantievorming, beleidsbeïnvloeding en institutionele fondsenwerving en vertaalt dit naar heldere kaders voor (meer)jaarplannen, budgetten en doelstellingen.
  • Je begeleidt de afdeling bij de implementatie van plannen en projecten, stuurt werkzaamheden op kwaliteit en impact, monitort voortgang van gestelde doelen en stuurt bij waar nodig.
  • Je ontwikkelt en overziet het alliantie-brede leertraject en stelt de kaders vast voor reviews en evaluaties van thema- en landenprogramma’s. Daarnaast overzie je de monitoring en de voortgang van de gestelde doelen en prestatie indicatoren.
  • Je overziet en begeleidt het decentralisatieproces en de alliantievorming en stemt af met het MT over de benodigde veranderingen in het internationale kantoor.
  • Je overziet de ontwikkeling en implementatie van de alliantie-brede meerjarenstrategie en stuurt op resultaten en impact op de drie zero’s (Zero Transmission, Zero Disability & Zero Exclusion) aan de aan de hand van de centrale Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning cyclus (PMEL).
  • Je bouwt en onderhoudt een breed netwerk met strategische partners en donoren en vertegenwoordigt de organisatie naar externe organisaties en samenwerkingsverbanden.

Wat krijgen we van jou?

  • Universitair werk- en denkniveau
  • Strategische denker en ervaren ‘people manager’ die professionals kan inspireren en motiveren en affiniteit heeft met operationele werkprocessen
  • Aantoonbare werkervaring (minimum 10 jaar) in een vergelijkbare functie
  • Strategische netwerker met gedegen kennis en netwerk van internationale samenwerking en aantoonbare ervaring met strategische beleid beïnvloeding en lobby en advocacy.
  • Kennis en ervaring in partnerlanden is een absolute pré
  • Ervaring in international (public) health is een pré
  • Beschikt over een aantoonbaar netwerk in de sector ontwikkelingssamenwerking
  • Goede beheersing van de Nederlandse en Engelse taal in woord en geschrift
  • Sterke internationale communicatieve vaardigheden

Wat krijg je van ons?

  • Een salaris, afhankelijk van kennis en ervaring, tussen de € 5.151 en € 6.732 bruto per maand op basis van een fulltime contract (38 uur is fulltime);

Over de Leprastichting

De Leprastichting wil de eeuwenoude ziekte lepra definitief een halt toeroepen. Nog steeds diagnosticeren we jaarlijks 200.000 nieuwe leprapatiënten en leven miljoenen mensen met de ernstige gevolgen van lepra door discriminatie en uitsluiting. Onnodig, want bij tijdige opsporing en behandeling is verdere besmetting te voorkomen. Naast hulpverlening financiert de Leprastichting wetenschappelijk onderzoek om gebleken effectieve behandelmethodes wereldwijd te kunnen inzetten.

De Leprastichting bestrijdt lepra met lokale kantoren in Mozambique, India, Indonesië, Nepal en Brazilië en internationale partners. Op ons internationale kantoor in Amsterdam werken zo’n 40 mensen en in de landenkantoren 200 medewerkers. De Leprastichting is een ANBI met CBF-erkenning en krijgt de steun van 45.000 donateurs en toonaangevende institutionele donoren waaronder de Nationale Postcodeloterij. Internationaal staan we bekend als NLR, until No Leprosy Remains. De Leprastichting heeft een leidende rol in de Internationale Federatie van Leprabestrijdingsorganisaties (ILEP).

NLR is looking for an inspiring, strategic, and result-oriented Head of Programmes, Research and Partnerships

Because international leprosy control has proven to be effective. Effective through the successful treatment of leprosy patients. Effective through informing and training of health professionals and (ex) leprosy patients, so that handicaps, discrimination, and exclusion are no longer necessary.

A world without leprosy is therefore a concrete and realistic goal. We want to achieve this by 2040 and this requires (financial) resources and enthusiastic employees. NLR has offices in Mozambique, India, Indonesia, Nepal, and Brazil, but is currently in an organizational transition to become an international alliance of independent NGOs: the NLR Alliance. At the Amsterdam office, the programmes and medical technical departments were merged this year into the Programmes, Research & Partnerships department. The merger reflects the intensive collaboration that already existed and the changing role of the Dutch office within the NLR alliance. To lead this new department and steer this change in the right direction, we are immediately looking for an inspiring, strategic, and result-oriented:

Head of Programmes, Research & Partnerships 

The Programmes, Research & Partnerships department consists of 15 passionate employees. The department is divided into the following 3 clusters, each managed by a coordinator:

  • Alliance & Partnerships
  • Research and advocacy
  • Institutional fundraising & project proposal development

What will you do as Head of Programs, Research & Partnerships Department

  • You will direct, coach, and motivate the employees; draw up clear frameworks; make concrete agreements about results and quality with team members; ensure a clear division of roles and tasks within the department and stimulate mutual cooperation.
  • You are a member of the management team and jointly responsible for the organization-wide strategy, organizational development, and culture. You are also a sparring partner for the Executive Director.
  • You develop department policy in collaboration with the department with regard to programmes, research, innovation, knowledge development, alliance formation, influencing policy and institutional fundraising, and you translate this into clear frameworks for (multi-)annual plans, budgets, and objectives.
  • You guide the department in the implementation of plans and projects, direct the work of the employees on quality and impact, monitor progress towards set goals and adjust where necessary.
  • You develop and oversee the alliance-wide learning trajectory and you determine the frameworks for reviews and evaluations of themed programmes and country programmes. In addition, you oversee the monitoring and progress of the set goals and performance indicators.
  • You oversee and supervise the decentralization process and the alliance formation, and you coordinate with the MT about the necessary changes in the international office.
  • You oversee the development and implementation of the alliance-wide multi-year strategy, and you manage results and impact on the three zeros (Zero Transmission, Zero Disability & Zero Exclusion) on the basis of the central Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning cycle (PMEL).
  • You build and maintain a broad network with strategic partners and donors, and you represent the organization to external organizations and partnerships.

Your profile

  • University working and thinking level
  • A strategic thinker and experienced people manager who can inspire and motivate professionals and has an affinity with operational work processes
  • Demonstrable work experience (minimum 10 years) in a comparable position
  • A strategic networker with thorough knowledge and network of international cooperation and demonstrable experience with strategic policy influencing and lobbying and advocacy
  • Demonstrable network in the development cooperation sector
  • Good understanding of the Dutch and English language in word and writing
  • Strong international communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in partner countries is an absolute advantage
  • Experience in international (public) health is an advantage
