    Our rehabilitation projects help people with leprosy-related disabilities to learn to manage on their own as much as possible. The support we provide ranges from donating adjusted footwear, crutches or wheelchairs to the customisation and maintenance of various sorts of prostheses, as well as surgery to mend serious damage to feet or hands.

Leprosy stigma preventing many seeking treatment

Medication for leprosy is free in the Pacific but the goal to eradicate the disease is still out of reach.
The stigma attached to leprosy is stopping people from seeking medical help and there aren’t enough doctors to actively find sufferers.

Solomon Islands health ministry’s leprosy advocator, Oliver Merpirla, says the way to wipeout the disease is to implement more awareness programs.
